Salcheto Chianti Biskero 2024
Red 14% ABV ABV SalchetoAbsolutely loved this one
Saw Salcheto recommended somewhere online and took a punt. So glad I did — this is punching well above its weight for the price. Complex and interesting with layers of flavour that kept revealing themselves as I worked through the bottle. Already ordered more.
Decent midweek Italian red
Had this at an Italian restaurant and liked it enough to track down a bottle. It's got that classic Chianti thing going on — cherry fruit, good acidity, works brilliantly with pasta and red sauce. Not going to blow your mind but it does exactly what you want it to do.
Good but not cheap
Nice enough wine, proper Chianti flavours and well made. The tannins are smooth and it's got decent depth to it. At £16.50 though I'd want it to be a bit more special — there's good competition at that price point.
Really solid Chianti
Picked this up from our local wine shop on their recommendation and glad I did. Loads of fruit but it's not jammy or heavy — there's a nice sharpness that keeps it interesting. Had it with a big lasagne and it was spot on. Would definitely buy again.
Birthday treat that delivered
My wife got me this for my birthday and wow, it's a lovely red. Really aromatic when you pour it, you can smell it straight away. Smooth finish that doesn't dry your mouth out. At 14% it's got a bit of warmth to it too which I liked on a cold evening.
Expected more honestly
Bought this for a dinner party because the label looked nice and the price seemed reasonable. It's fine, perfectly drinkable, but nothing jumped out at me. My mate brought a £10 Montepulciano that I honestly preferred. Not bad, just not memorable.
