Remi Leroy Saignee Les Crots 2018 Champagne
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Remi LeroyNice but pricey
Look, it's a good champagne. Fruity nose, well balanced, clean finish. But nearly seventy quid? I've had champagnes at £40-45 that I've enjoyed just as much. If someone else is buying, brilliant. If it's my money, I'd probably shop around.
Solid but not mind-blowing
Saw this on a restaurant menu and figured I'd try something different. It's definitely well-made — good balance, decent length on the finish, fruit comes through clearly. Just didn't quite blow my socks off the way I hoped at this price point. A reliable choice though, nothing wrong with it at all.
The rosé champagne I've been looking for
I'm a sucker for rosé champagne and this is one of the best I've had in ages. The fruit is so upfront and confident — none of that wishy-washy subtlety that some rosé champagnes hide behind. Really well structured too, it kept getting more interesting with every sip. Served it at a dinner party and everyone asked what it was.
Remi Leroy is seriously underrated
Been working my way through a few grower champagnes this year and this saignée from Leroy is a standout. The 2018 vintage gives it this beautiful ripe quality without being heavy, and the complexity really builds as it opens up. Clean finish that just makes you want another glass. Worth every penny in my opinion.
Great birthday present to myself
Treated myself to this for my birthday. I don't know loads about champagne but I know what I like, and this was really enjoyable. It's got a nice ripeness to it and the acidity keeps it fresh. Went great with the takeaway Thai we ended up ordering, which I wasn't expecting.
Lovely summer evening champagne
Had this at a friend's BBQ and immediately wanted to know where to get it. There's a generous fruitiness that hits you straight away, and it's got enough structure that it doesn't just taste like fizzy juice. Really moreish. Already ordered a couple of bottles for when the weather warms up.
Proper grower champagne
Picked this up after the guy at my local wine shop recommended Remi Leroy. It's got real depth to it — layers of fruit that keep opening up the more you drink. The 2018 warmth comes through nicely. At £68.50 it's not cheap but it's a genuine small-producer champagne and you can taste the difference.
Special occasion champagne
Bought this for our anniversary and wow, it really delivered. The colour is gorgeous — that pale pink from the saignée method is so pretty in the glass. Really fruity and expressive on the nose, and it's got this lovely richness to it that I wasn't expecting from a champagne. Would absolutely buy again for a special night.
