Rare Rose 2008 Champagne
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV rareSaw it on a restaurant menu, no regrets
Spotted this on a wine list at a nice place in London and thought why not. So glad we did. It's got real presence — structured and layered but still easy to enjoy. The rosé colour is beautiful too. Shared the bottle over a long meal and every glass was as good as the last.
Impressive but had to think about the price
A friend brought this to a dinner party and I'm glad I got to try it without paying for it myself. Really expressive on the nose, you can tell it's had time to develop. Lovely acidity that keeps it fresh despite being from 2008. I'd rate it highly but £299 is a lot — I'd probably pick something half the price for my own money.
Best champagne I've ever had
I don't say this lightly but this is genuinely the best champagne I've tasted. Everything is just balanced — the fruit, the acidity, the way it all comes together. It smells incredible straight out of the bottle, no waiting around needed. Treated myself for my 40th and zero regrets.
Lovely but bit pricey for what it is
Got this as a birthday present and it's definitely quality champagne. Nice bright acidity, good fruit, clean finish. But honestly at £299 I kept comparing it to champagnes at half the price and I'm not sure it's twice as good. Still really enjoyed drinking it though, don't get me wrong.
Worth every penny for a special night
Bought this for our 15th wedding anniversary and wow, it delivered. The bubbles are fine and elegant, and there's this gorgeous depth of fruit that just keeps going. At £299 it's not an everyday thing obviously, but for a milestone celebration it felt absolutely right. The finish lingers in the best way — we kept going back for another sip.
Properly grown-up champagne
The wine shop guy recommended this when I said I wanted something special for New Year's. It's a serious champagne — confident and mature, not one of those simple fizzy ones. The acidity keeps it lively even though it's got years on it. At 12.5% it's not heavy either, we polished off the bottle without realising.
