Radford Dale Vinum Chardonnay 2023
White 12% ABV ABV Radford DaleOne of my favourite SA whites
I'm a big fan of Radford Dale and this Chardonnay doesn't disappoint. There's a real complexity to it that you don't always get at this price point. The finish just sort of fades out perfectly and makes you want another sip. Genuinely excellent.
Decent mid-week bottle
Had this with some pasta and it did the job nicely. Nothing flashy but it's well made and the acidity keeps things interesting. I'm still figuring out what I like with white wine and this felt like a safe bet. Would get it again if it was on offer.
Really impressive for the price
Picked this up from my local wine shop on a whim and honestly it punches well above £15. Really clean and fresh with lovely fruit, and it's got this nice acidity that keeps you coming back for more. Had it with roast chicken on Sunday and it was spot on.
Birthday dinner winner
Bought two bottles of this for my birthday dinner and both got demolished. At 12% it's really easy drinking and everyone commented on how fresh and balanced it was. Even my mate who only drinks red said he enjoyed it. Will definitely be getting more.
Solid everyday Chardonnay
This is a good honest Chardonnay without any of that heavy oaky butter thing going on. Nice balance, easy to drink, and the finish is clean. Not the most exciting wine I've ever had but I'd happily buy it again.
Expected a bit more honestly
Saw this on a restaurant wine list and ordered a glass. It's fine — clean, balanced, easy to drink. But I've had other Chardonnays from South Africa around this price that had more going on. The finish is nice though, smooth and doesn't have any harshness to it.
Great summer wine
The guy at the wine shop recommended this when I said I wanted something crisp and not too heavy. He was right — it's got a really expressive nose and the fruit comes through nicely without being sweet. Good stuff for a warm evening in the garden.
Nice but not sure about the price
It's pleasant enough — light, fresh, well made. But for £15.50 I feel like there are South African Chardonnays that give you a bit more excitement. My partner liked it more than I did to be fair.
