Quinta do Vesuvio 2016 Vintage Port
Fortified 20% ABV ABV Quinta do VesuvioChristmas present that delivered
My father-in-law got me this for Christmas and honestly it's one of the best ports I've had. You don't even need to swirl it, the smell just hits you straight away. Really well balanced for 20% — you'd never guess it was that strong. At £70 it's not cheap but for a proper vintage port it's actually fair.
Decent vintage port, bit pricey
Bought this for my dad's 60th alongside some stilton. He enjoyed it and said the acidity cut through the cheese nicely. I had a glass and thought it was good — layered and interesting with a clean finish. Not sure I'd spend £70 on it myself when there are solid ports at half the price, but as a gift it went down well.
Perfect after dinner
Had this at a dinner party and immediately went and bought a bottle for myself. It's got a lovely clean finish that makes you want to keep sipping. The fruit is really well defined without being jammy. Shared it with mates watching the rugby and it didn't last long.
Genuinely impressed
I'm not usually a port person but the guy at my local wine shop talked me into trying this. The nose is incredible — so much going on without even trying. What surprised me most is how well the alcohol is hidden. 20% and it doesn't burn at all. Starting to think I might be a port person now.
Good but maybe not £70 good
Picked this up from a wine shop in Porto on holiday and paid a bit less than UK prices. It's a solid port — good structure, nice acidity that stops it being too sweet and heavy. But at full UK price I'd probably look at other options. Would buy again at duty free prices though.
