Quinta do Vale Meao Tinto 2022
Red 14% ABV ABV Quinta do Vale MeaoSerious wine, seriously good
My local wine shop guy recommended this when I said I wanted something from the Douro that wasn't port. He was right, it's excellent — dark fruit, savoury edge, and the tannins are really smooth for how structured it is. Knocked off a point because at this price I'd want to cellar a few and that's a big commitment.
Great but bit steep
Really nice wine, no question. Lovely savoury thing going on alongside the fruit, and it opened up loads over the evening. My only gripe is the price — £157 is a lot and I've had Portuguese reds at half that which got close. Would I buy it again? Probably not regularly, but glad I tried it.
Worth every penny for a special night
Bought this for our anniversary dinner and wow, it delivered. Really rich dark fruit but not heavy or jammy — it stayed interesting the whole way through. The finish just kept going and going. At £157 it's not an everyday bottle but for a celebration it's hard to beat.
Best red I've had this year
Had this at a friend's dinner party and immediately asked where they got it. The balance is unreal — fruity but not sweet, big but not clunky. You honestly can't tell it's 14% which is dangerous. Tracked down a bottle for myself the next week.
