Porte Noire Petite Porte Extra Brut Champagne
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Porte NoireNice but maybe a touch steep
The wine shop guy recommended this when I said I wanted something dry and interesting. It's good — really clean finish and you can actually taste what's going on because there's barely any sugar masking things. £43 is a lot though, and I've had champagnes at £30 that I've enjoyed just as much. Would buy on offer.
Decent champagne, bit dry for me
Got this as a birthday present and it's clearly quality stuff — the finish is really clean and it lingers nicely. Personally I prefer something a tiny bit sweeter so the extra brut style isn't quite my thing, but I can see why people rate it. At 12.5% it's dangerously easy to drink though. Would suit someone who knows their champagne better than me.
Great pick for a dinner party
Served this at a dinner party and got loads of compliments. It smells amazing straight out of the bottle, really expressive and aromatic. The dryness works brilliantly with food — we had it with smoked salmon starters and then just kept drinking it through the main course. Proper grown-up champagne.
Proper treat for New Year's
Bought this for New Year's Eve and honestly it was the highlight of the night. Really crisp and dry without being harsh — the bubbles are super fine and creamy which I wasn't expecting at this price. My partner who normally finds champagne too acidic actually loved it. Will definitely be buying again.
Converted me to extra brut
I always used to go for brut but this has totally changed my mind on extra brut. You get so much more flavour coming through because there's less sugar in the way. Lovely creamy texture from the bubbles and it sort of builds and gets more interesting the more you drink. Picked it up after seeing Porte Noire mentioned online and glad I did.
