Pollera Val di Magra Ruschi Noceti 2020
Red 14% ABV ABV Ruschi NocetiKept going back for more
There's something about this wine where every sip is slightly different? Like it opens up and changes as you drink it. The finish is really smooth and clean, not one of those reds that dries your whole mouth out. Shared it with my partner over a cheese board and we both really enjoyed it.
Interesting but needed time
Tried this on a whim after seeing it online somewhere. First glass I wasn't totally sure about it, but by the second pour it had really come alive and the flavours got way more complex. I think you need to be a bit patient with it. Decent wine, just make sure you don't rush it.
Great dinner party wine
Brought this to a friend's dinner party and it went down really well. Smells amazing straight out of the bottle — really aromatic and characterful. Stood up nicely to the lamb we had it with. Would definitely grab another bottle if I see it.
Nice but not cheap
Got this as a birthday present and it's a solid red. Good depth to it and I liked that the alcohol doesn't smack you in the face even though it's 14%. At £36 though I'd probably reach for something else day to day — felt like a £25 wine to me if I'm being honest.
Proper Italian red
Picked this up from a little wine shop in town because the guy behind the counter wouldn't stop going on about it. He was right though — it's got this really bold, upfront smell that hits you straight away, and the flavour just keeps getting more interesting the longer you sit with it. Had it with a slow-cooked ragu and it was perfect. Bit more than I'd normally spend but I'd buy it again for a special occasion.
