Pol Roger Rich Demi-Sec Champagne
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Pol RogerNice but bit pricey
It's a good Champagne, don't get me wrong. Lovely balance and the sweetness is well judged. But at nearly £50 a bottle I'd probably only get it for special occasions. For everyday fizz I'd stick with something cheaper.
Great demi-sec
I'm not usually a sweet Champagne person but this changed my mind a bit. The acidity really keeps it fresh so it doesn't taste heavy or syrupy. Worked brilliantly with some blue cheese after dinner. Pol Roger clearly know what they're doing.
This stuff is dangerously drinkable
Had this at a friend's dinner party and immediately asked what it was. The finish just keeps going and you find yourself going back for another sip before you've even put the glass down. Ordered two bottles the next day.
Really impressed
The wine shop guy steered me towards this when I said I wanted something a bit sweeter than your typical brut. He was spot on. There's proper depth to it, not just sugar — you can taste there's something serious going on underneath. Would definitely buy again.
Perfect for celebrations
Bought this for my wife's 40th and it was a massive hit. It's got this lovely sweetness that isn't cloying at all — everyone kept saying how easy it was to drink. At £48 it's not cheap but for a special occasion Champagne it's worth every penny.
Solid choice for dessert
Picked this up to go with a fruit tart and it did the job nicely. It's sweeter than what I normally drink but it's got enough going on that it doesn't feel one-dimensional. At 12.5% it's easy to have a couple of glasses without overdoing it.
Saw it on a menu and had to try it
Tried this at a restaurant and was really pleasantly surprised. I'd always avoided demi-sec thinking it would be too sweet but this is really well balanced — the sweetness kind of frames everything else rather than taking over. Tracked down a bottle to have at home and it's just as good.
