Pinot Noir Johanneshof Reinisch 2023: Robust and Rewarding
Red 13% ABV ABV Johanneshof ReinischAustrian Pinot Noir? Who knew
Never had an Austrian Pinot Noir before, always go for Burgundy or New Zealand. This was a nice surprise though. Earthy and a bit smoky with good structure. Interesting alternative if you want to try something different.
Good not great
It's fine? Like it's a decent red wine and I can taste the raspberry and cherry stuff. But for nearly £20 I was hoping for something a bit more special. My partner liked it more than I did to be fair.
Solid weeknight red
Nice Pinot Noir, maybe a bit bolder than I expected. Got that smoky thing happening which I liked. Not life-changing but I'd definitely buy it again at this price.
Reliable and easy to drink
Saw this on a restaurant menu and liked it enough to track down a bottle for home. At 13% it doesn't knock you sideways either which is a plus. The dried herb and cherry finish is really moreish. Would happily have this as a regular go-to.
Really impressed with this one
Picked this up from my local wine shop on a whim and honestly it's brilliant for under twenty quid. The cherry and cocoa thing going on in the finish is gorgeous. Drank it with a slow-cooked beef stew and it was a perfect match.
Bit much for me
I usually drink lighter reds and this was heavier than I expected from a Pinot Noir. The oak and smoky flavours are quite strong. Not really my thing but I can see why others would rate it. Probably better with food than on its own.
Birthday treat that delivered
My wife got me this for my birthday after the guy at the wine shop recommended it. Really lovely — smells like proper fresh berries and the finish just keeps going. We ended up ordering another bottle the same week.
Dinner party winner
Brought this to a dinner party and everyone asked what it was. The raspberry on the nose is really inviting and it's got that earthy savoury depth that makes it feel like more than a £20 bottle. Went amazingly with the lamb we had.
