Pierre Peters Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne: A Toast-Worthy Cuvee
Champagne 12% ABV ABV Pierre PetersThis stuff is dangerously drinkable
Picked this up after reading it was 100% Chardonnay and I'm a sucker for blanc de blancs. The mousse is so creamy and smooth, and there's this gorgeous brioche richness on the finish. Went perfectly with some fish and chips which probably isn't the done thing but who cares.
Best champagne I've had in ages
I don't know much about wine but I know what I like and this is gorgeous. There's a honeycomb sweetness to the smell but it's actually really dry to drink, with a chalky mineral thing that keeps it interesting. Absolutely loved it and the bottle didn't last long between two of us.
Solid champagne, not life-changing
Had this at a friend's dinner party and thought it was really nice without blowing my mind. You get that baked apple and hazelnut combo which is pleasant, and it's properly dry which I prefer. Good but I'm not sure I'd seek it out myself at that price.
Nice for a celebration
We opened this on New Year's Eve. Green apple and pear on the nose, really fresh and inviting. It's dry but not harsh, and the finish goes on forever. Would buy again for something special.
Reliable Pierre Peters
Had this on a restaurant menu and recognised Pierre Peters from a tasting I went to last year. It's consistently good — that hazelnut and lemon curd combo on the finish is lovely. Wouldn't say it's their most exciting bottle but it's well made and I'd happily order it again.
Bit steep for what you get
The wine shop guy recommended this and it's decent enough — nice and toasty with a lemony finish that keeps you sipping. But honestly for over sixty quid I expected something a bit more special. I've had champagnes at £40 that impressed me more.
Birthday treat that delivered
Bought this for my wife's 40th and we both loved it. Really creamy bubbles with this lovely nutty, toasty thing going on. At £62 it's not an everyday buy but for a special occasion it felt worth every penny.
