Pertois Lebrun Le Fond du Bateau 2014 Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Pertois LebrunBirthday treat that delivered
Got this as a birthday present to myself and honestly no regrets. Really clean and crisp with proper depth to it — not one of those champagnes that's all fizz and no substance. At nearly 80 quid it's not an everyday thing but for a special occasion it's spot on.
So much going on in this glass
Picked this up after seeing it on a list at a restaurant and tracking it down online. What I love is that it's not just a one-note champagne — there's layers to it that kind of unfold as you drink. Went brilliantly with some roast chicken.
Nice but bit steep
Bought this for a dinner party after the guy at the wine shop recommended it. It's good — lovely balance and a clean finish that keeps you coming back. But at £78 I think you can find blanc de blancs that punch just as hard for less. Would have it again if someone else was buying.
Proper grower champagne
Been getting into grower champagnes lately and this Pertois Lebrun is a solid pick. Pure Chardonnay, really precise on the nose, and the acidity keeps everything fresh and lively. Finished the bottle faster than expected which says it all really.
Decent champers, wanted more wow
Had this at a friend's anniversary do. It's well made for sure — clean, balanced, nice length on the finish. But for a 2014 vintage at this price I was hoping for something that really grabbed me, and it was more quietly impressive than exciting. Still polished off my share though.
Genuinely impressive stuff
I'm not a champagne expert by any stretch but this stood out even to me. Really elegant, structured, with that crisp Chardonnay character running through it. My wife said it was the best champagne she's had outside of France which is high praise from her.
