Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque Champagne 2012 / Magnum
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Perrier-JouëtWorth every penny for a special night
Bought this magnum for our 10th anniversary dinner and wow. The bubbles are so fine and elegant, and it just keeps revealing new flavours the longer you sit with it. My wife said it was the best champagne she's ever had, and honestly I'm not going to argue. At £411 it's not an everyday thing obviously, but for a once-in-a-while celebration it's absolutely stunning.
Shared this with friends who know nothing about wine
Opened the magnum at a dinner party and even my mates who normally drink lager were impressed. It's complex without being intimidating — there's a lot going on but it all just works together. One friend said it tasted like "fancy" and honestly that's probably the best review anyone could give it. The length on the finish is unreal, it stays with you ages after each sip.
Beautiful but hard to justify the price
Tried this at a friend's wedding and it is genuinely lovely — really precise and layered, you can tell it's a step above your usual fizz. But over £400 for a bottle? I keep thinking about how many solid wines I could get for that. If someone else is buying, absolutely say yes. If it's your own money, maybe think twice.
That bottle is gorgeous too
Got this as a birthday present and I almost didn't want to open it because the art nouveau bottle is so pretty. Glad I did though — it's incredibly smooth with this bright acidity that keeps you going back for more. The finish just lingers and lingers. Best champagne I've had, full stop.
