Perrier-Jouet Belle Epoque Blanc de Blancs 2014
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Perrier-JouëtBeautiful but seriously expensive
Had this at a restaurant for a friend's engagement dinner. It's genuinely lovely — super clean, precise, and the acidity is spot on. But I can't help feeling £375 is a LOT of money for a bottle of fizz, even one this good. Would I buy it again? Probably not at that price.
Opened it too early and zero regrets
Was saving this for Christmas but cracked it on a random Tuesday after a really good week at work. No regrets at all. It's so expressive right from the first sniff and just keeps giving. The balance between the fruit and the acidity is unreal. My new benchmark for champagne honestly.
The art nouveau bottle alone is gorgeous
Saw this on a wine list and recognised the Belle Epoque flower bottle from Instagram. Decided to treat myself. Really glad I did — it's incredibly elegant and the flavours keep developing in the glass. Blanc de blancs so it's all chardonnay which gives it this amazing freshness. Took ages to finish because I kept discovering new things.
Lovely stuff, needs time to open up
The guy at the wine shop talked me into this for a dinner party. First glass I thought it was nice but nothing crazy, then about 20 minutes in it completely opened up and everyone at the table noticed. Really smooth finish. Glad I was warned to give it some air.
Best champagne I've ever had
My wife surprised me with this for my 50th birthday. I'm not exaggerating when I say this is the best champagne I've ever tasted. Really deep and structured, not like those simple fizzy ones. You can tell it's been aged for ages because everything just feels so polished and balanced.
Good but not £375 good
Look, this is a really nice champagne. Clean, balanced, clearly well made. But at this price point I expected to have my mind blown and honestly I've had bottles at half the price that got me just as excited. Maybe I'm missing something but I think you're paying a lot for the brand and the fancy bottle here.
Stunning with seafood
Ordered this at a Michelin place and they paired it with oysters and crab. Absolute game changer. The crispness and that long clean finish worked so well with the food. I don't usually remember specific wines from meals but this one stuck with me. Pure class.
Worth every penny for a special night
Bought this for our 10th anniversary and wow, it did not disappoint. So complex and layered — every sip revealed something new. The bubbles are incredibly fine and the finish just goes on and on. At £375 it's not an everyday thing but for a milestone celebration it's perfect.
