I'd heard so much about Belle Epoque and it IS really nice — lovely almond and brioche notes, fine bubbles, proper grown-up champagne. But at this price point I was expecting to be completely blown away and I wasn't quite. Maybe I built it up too much in my head.

Picked this up for a dinner party after the guy in the wine shop recommended it. Everyone was impressed before we even opened it — that art nouveau flower bottle is gorgeous. The champagne itself is rich and toasty with a really long finish. Went perfectly with the seafood starter.

Had this at a restaurant and it was genuinely stunning — really complex with stone fruit and pastry flavours and incredibly smooth bubbles. But at £170 a bottle I'd have to think hard before buying it again when there are solid champagnes at half the price. Special occasion only for me.

Saw this on a restaurant wine list and thought why not, it's Christmas. So glad I did. From the first sip there's layers and layers of flavour — citrus, cream, toast, stone fruit — and the finish lasts forever. Shared it with my dad who's been drinking wine for decades and even he was impressed. Already planning to buy a bottle to cellar.

My wife got me this for my 40th and honestly I'm ruined for other champagnes now. The finish just goes on and on — I swear I could still taste it five minutes later. Creamy, toasty, with this lovely fresh citrus lift. If you can stretch to it, do it.

Had a glass of this at a bar in Paris and immediately ordered a second. So smooth and creamy with a toasty warmth to it, but also really fresh and zingy at the same time. The Chardonnay and Pinot Noir blend is just spot on. Now trying to find it at home for a reasonable price.

Bought this for our 10th wedding anniversary and it absolutely delivered. The bubbles are so fine and elegant, and there's this gorgeous brioche and almond thing going on that just keeps you coming back for more. At £170 it's not an everyday buy but for a milestone moment, you won't regret it.

8/10

Not usually a big champagne person but this converted me a bit. It's got so much more going on than the usual stuff — there's this almost bready richness with ripe fruit and then a chalky mineral finish that keeps it interesting. At 12.5% it's dangerously easy to drink too. Would love to try the rosé version next.
