Paul Launois Monochrome #5 Blanc de Blancs Champagne / Magnum
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Paul LaunoisBest blanc de blancs I've had
My local wine shop guy recommended this and wow. So layered and complex but in a way that doesn't feel like hard work — every sip just had something new going on. I've had champagnes twice the price that weren't this good. Will be buying again for Christmas.
Our new anniversary champagne
We split this magnum between four of us on our anniversary weekend and it was gorgeous. Really confident flavour right from the first glass — nothing wishy-washy about it. The finish is so smooth and it just keeps inviting you back for more. Already ordered another one.
Birthday treat that delivered
Bought this magnum for my 40th and it was the star of the night. Really clean and precise — not one of those champagnes that just tastes like fizzy nothing. The finish hangs around just long enough to make you want another glass. At £119 for a magnum it's actually not bad value per glass.
Nice champagne, not sure about the hype
It's good, don't get me wrong. Clean finish and decent depth to it. But for nearly £120 I was expecting to be completely blown away and I just thought it was a solid champagne. Maybe I need to try it again with lower expectations.
Punches well above its weight
Saw this on a list at a restaurant and ordered a bottle, then tracked down the magnum online. Really expressive on the nose, you can smell it as soon as you pour. The acidity is spot on and it carried through a whole seafood spread without getting lost.
Lovely but a big spend
Got this for a dinner party and everyone was impressed. It's structured and balanced, proper grown-up champagne. Bit pricey at £119 though — I'd save it for special occasions rather than a casual Saturday night.
