Paul Dethune Grand Cru NV Champagne
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Paul DethuneNew favourite champagne
I don't know loads about champagne but I know what I like, and I really like this. It's dry and fresh with a clean finish that makes you want another glass immediately. Brought it to a friend's house for New Year's and everyone loved it.
Great for a dinner party
Served this at a dinner party and got loads of compliments. It smells amazing straight out of the bottle — really ripe fruity aromas that hit you immediately. Held up well through starters and mains. Would definitely buy again.
Punches above its weight
Saw this on a restaurant menu and looked it up afterwards to buy a few bottles. For a Grand Cru NV it's surprisingly complex — layers of flavour that keep unfolding as you drink. Not flashy, just really well made. Became my go-to for when I want something a step up from supermarket champagne.
Decent but not mind-blowing
Picked this up after reading some good things online. It's well-balanced and the acidity is nice and bright, but I was expecting a bit more wow factor at this price point. The fruit is there but it's quite restrained. Good champagne, just not one I'd rush to rebuy.
Proper champagne this
Bought this for my wife's birthday after the guy in the wine shop recommended it. Really glad I did — it's got this lovely fresh acidity that keeps you coming back for more. Not sweet or heavy at all, just clean and crisp with proper depth to it. Worth every penny of the £47.
Nice but a bit steep
It's a solid champagne, don't get me wrong. Good balance, nice acidity, and the finish lingers in a pleasant way. But at nearly £47 I'd probably only grab it for special occasions. You can find decent fizz for less.
