Osborne 51-1 VORS Amontillado Sherry
Fortified 20% ABV ABV OsborneReally good but steep price
Got this as a birthday present and it's lovely, don't get me wrong. Super complex with dried fruit and almond flavours that go on forever. But I'm not sure I'd buy it myself at that price — you can get solid amontillados for half that. One for special occasions.
Lovely Christmas treat
Bought this for Christmas Day as something a bit different and everyone loved it. So nutty and smooth with a clean finish that doesn't hang around in a bad way. Even my dad who only drinks red wine was impressed. Would definitely buy again for a special occasion.
Interesting but not quite my thing
Tried this at a tasting and bought a bottle. It's clearly well made — really layered with hazelnut and a salty edge that's unusual. At 20% it packs a punch though and I found it a bit intense on its own. Might work better with food, need to experiment more.
This is what sherry should taste like
I've been getting into sherry lately and this is next level stuff. You can taste the age in it — all toasted walnut and dried fruit — but it never feels heavy or syrupy. The finish just goes on and on. Genuinely converted a couple of friends who thought sherry was just the sweet stuff your nan drinks at Christmas.
Perfect after-dinner sipper
The guy at the wine shop talked me into this and I'm glad he did. It's got this amazing balance where it's rich and nutty but also really fresh and zingy at the same time. We had it after a dinner party with some aged manchego and it was a proper match made in heaven.
Blew me away
Picked this up after seeing it on a sherry list at a tapas place and wow. The nuttiness is incredible — like proper roasted hazelnuts — and it's got this salty thing going on that makes you keep sipping. Easily the best sherry I've ever had at home, though at £65 it's definitely a treat not a Tuesday night pour.
