Maxwell Green VIPsAllowed - Surprised me

Not gonna lie, I didn't know Alsace did serious reds but this changed my mind. Really engaging on the nose and the fruit is there without being over the top. Drank it with a lamb shoulder and it was perfect.

Sophie Brennan VIPsAllowed - Great dinner party bottle
8/10

Bought this for a dinner party and it went down really well. Good structure, nice warmth from the 14% without being boozy. Everyone kept asking what it was. Would buy again for a special occasion.

Marcus Chen VIPsAllowed - Zusslin doing good things
8/10

I've been getting into biodynamic producers lately and Zusslin keeps coming up. This red is seriously good — structured, bright, with a finish that lingers without being heavy. Goes great with charcuterie and hard cheese. Would happily stock a couple more.

Sara Lindstrom VIPsAllowed - Proper Alsatian red
9/10

Picked this up after the guy in my local wine shop wouldn't shut up about it. He was right though — really expressive nose, loads of fruit but not jammy or overblown. The acidity keeps everything in check. At £40 it's not cheap but it's genuinely interesting wine.

Daniel Torres VIPsAllowed - Decent, not sure about the price
7/10

Saw this recommended online and thought I'd give it a go. It's solid — good acidity, nicely balanced, no rough edges. But for nearly forty quid I wanted to be blown away and I wasn't quite. More of a £30 wine to me.

Jason Steel VIPsAllowed - Nice but a stretch at £40

It's a well-made wine, no question. Clean finish, good depth, the kind of thing that gets better as you sit with it. But £39.95 is asking a lot — I've had comparable reds from the Rhône for £25. Still enjoyed it though.

Oscar Delgado VIPsAllowed - Really well made
8/10

You can tell there's proper care gone into making this. The fruit is restrained rather than in your face, and the alcohol is really well integrated for 14%. Had it with steak and it held up brilliantly. Definitely one for people who like their reds with a bit of finesse.

Kenji Watanabe VIPsAllowed - Birthday treat well spent
9/10

My wife got me this for my birthday. Absolutely loved it — there's a complexity to it that keeps unfolding the longer it's open. The finish is so clean and it just makes you want another sip. One of the better reds I've had this year.
