O Casal Albarino Bodegas Boado Chaves 2023
Red 14% ABV ABV Boado ChavesSolid choice for dinner
Had this with a slow-cooked lamb shoulder at a dinner party and it went down really well. Nice structure to it, not too in-your-face. A couple of guests asked what it was so that says something. Fair enough at £25 but wouldn't pay much more.
Decent but nothing special
Maybe I was expecting more given the price tag but this didn't blow me away. It's perfectly fine, drinks cleanly and the finish is nice enough. Just felt like there are better options out there for twenty-five quid. Not bad, just not memorable for me.
Really impressed with this one
Picked this up from our local wine shop on a whim and glad I did. Really well balanced, the fruit is lovely without being jammy and the acidity keeps everything fresh. At 14% you'd expect it to be a bit heavy but it drinks so smoothly. Will definitely buy again.
Birthday treat that delivered
My wife got me this for my birthday and it was a proper treat. Really expressive on the nose, you can tell there's been some care put into making it. Complex without being complicated if that makes sense. One of those wines where you keep going back for another sip.
Nice find from Bodegas Boado Chaves
The guy at my wine shop recommended this and he knows his stuff. It's well put together — good fruit, clean acidity, and everything just works. The alcohol doesn't stick out at all which is impressive at 14%. Would happily have it again with a steak.
Went down a storm at our tasting night
Brought this to our monthly wine club and it scored well with everyone. Really layered flavours through the middle and a lovely clean finish. Someone described it as confident and I think that nails it. Would be great with a cheese board or red meat.
Good but a bit pricey
It's a nice enough wine, clean and well made, but £25.50 feels steep for what you're getting. I've had similar quality Spanish reds for a tenner less. The finish is pleasant though and it's easy drinking despite the higher alcohol.
