Nord-Sud Rouge 2023
Red 14% ABV ABV Nord-SudReally solid red for the price
Picked this up from my local wine shop on a whim and really glad I did. Loads of dark fruit on the nose, almost like blackberries, and it drinks really smoothly despite being 14%. Had it with a slow-cooked beef stew and it was perfect.
Reliable if a bit pricey
Saw this on a restaurant menu and liked it enough to track down a bottle for home. It's well balanced and the finish lingers nicely without being overwhelming. Only gripe is £17.25 feels a bit steep — I've had comparable reds for a few quid less. Still, it's a quality wine.
Good weeknight wine
Decent red that does exactly what you want it to. Nice dark fruity smell, good balance, not too heavy. At £17 it's maybe a touch more than I'd usually spend on a Tuesday night bottle but I'd buy it again on offer.
Dinner party hit
Bought two bottles for a dinner party last weekend and everyone commented on it. There's a lovely savoury thing going on underneath the fruit that makes it interesting without being weird. Kept wanting another glass which is always a good sign. Will definitely be buying more.
Absolutely loved this
Ok so I'm not a wine expert by any means but this is genuinely one of the nicest reds I've had in ages. The dark fruit flavours are really clear and it's got this savoury depth that kept me coming back. Had it with burgers and it was incredible. Already ordered another bottle.
Fine but nothing special
It's alright. Dark fruit flavours, goes down easy enough. But for £17+ I expect something that really grabs me and this just didn't. My partner liked it more than I did to be fair.
Nice recommendation from the wine shop
The guy in my local suggested this when I asked for something French and under £20. It's well put together — the alcohol doesn't smack you in the face even though it's 14%, and the finish is clean. Not life-changing but I trust his picks and this was solid.
