Niepoort Redoma Douro Branco 2024: Pure and Precisely Crafted
White 12% ABV ABV NiepoortThis is gorgeous
Absolutely loved this. There's a passionfruit and elderflower thing happening on the nose that just smells like summer. Really clean and dry on the finish too. Already ordered another bottle for the weekend.
Good but a bit steep
Nice enough wine — fresh, citrusy, decent acidity. But nearly £27 for a Portuguese white? I've had Vinho Verdes at half the price that I enjoyed just as much. Would maybe buy again on offer.
Interesting Douro white
I usually go for reds from the Douro so this was new territory for me. Pleasantly surprised — it's got real zip to it with that grapefruit acidity and a sort of stony mineral edge. The apricot flavour in the middle is lovely. Would pair well with grilled fish or even just some good olives.
Solid choice for a dinner party
Bought this for a seafood dinner with friends and it went down really well. Crisp and dry with nice peachy fruit. Not the most exciting wine I've ever had but everyone enjoyed it and the bottle was empty pretty fast.
Great summer wine
Saw this on a restaurant menu and liked it so much I tracked down a bottle to take home. That passionfruit on the nose is so good and it stays really fresh and crisp throughout. At 12% ABV it's easy drinking too. Will definitely be stocking up before barbecue season.
Not really for me
My partner got this for my birthday and I wanted to like it more than I did. It's very dry and acidic — I think I just prefer something with a bit more body. The lemon zest finish was nice though. If you like bone-dry whites you'd probably rate this higher than me.
Really impressed with this
Picked this up after the guy at my local wine shop recommended it. The grapefruit thing going on is really refreshing and it's got this mineral quality that keeps you coming back for another sip. At £26 it's not an everyday bottle but it's genuinely good white wine.
