Niepoort Nat'Cool Drink Me Branco 2024
Red 14% ABV ABV NiepoortOne of my favourite finds this year
Saw this on a restaurant menu and ordered a glass on a whim — ended up tracking down a bottle to buy. There's a real depth to it that kept me coming back for another sip. The balance between the fruit and acidity is spot on. Already bought two more for the rack at home.
Nice birthday treat
Got this as a birthday present from a friend who knows I'm getting into wine. Really aromatic when you swirl it around, you can tell it's well made. 14% ABV hits harder than I expected so pace yourself! Clean finish that lingers nicely.
Solid Douro red
Bought this for a dinner party and it went down well with everyone. It's got proper depth to it and the acidity keeps things interesting even though it's 14%. Not the most exciting wine I've ever had but I'd happily buy it again.
Really impressed with this one
Picked this up after the guy at my local wine shop recommended Niepoort. Really well balanced — fruity but not in your face about it. The finish sticks around just enough to make you want more. At £23 it's not an everyday bottle but definitely worth it for a nice weekend dinner.
Good but a bit pricey for what it is
Decent enough wine, well made and all that. But at over £23 I expected a bit more wow factor? It's nice and clean with good fruit but there are Douro reds at £15 that get me just as excited. Wouldn't turn it down if someone poured me a glass though.
Perfect with a roast
Had this with a slow-cooked lamb shoulder last Sunday and it was brilliant. Big enough to stand up to the food but not heavy or jammy. My wife who usually goes for lighter wines really liked it too which says something. The Nat'Cool range from Niepoort hasn't let me down yet.
