Elena Morozova VIPsAllowed - Great with steak night
7/10

Saw this on a list of interesting Portuguese reds and thought I'd give it a go. Really enjoyed it — it's got proper structure and the finish sticks around in a good way. We had it with ribeye steaks and roasted veg on a Friday night and it was spot on. Would happily grab another bottle.

Ayako Hirano VIPsAllowed - Solid red, bit different
7/10

Got this for a dinner party and it went down well with everyone. It's got a nice balance to it and the fruit comes through really cleanly. Didn't know anything about talha wines before this but apparently they use these big clay vessels — you can kind of taste the difference, less oaky than what I usually drink. Good stuff.

Ruth Banks VIPsAllowed - This one opened up beautifully
8/10

Poured a glass and thought it was fine, nothing special. Left it for 20 minutes and came back to it and wow — completely different wine. So much more going on, layers of dark fruit and this really clean fresh acidity that kept me coming back for more. Had it with a slow-cooked lamb shoulder and it was perfect. 14% but you'd never know it.

Olivia Wong VIPsAllowed - Really interesting find
8/10

Picked this up after the guy at my local wine shop recommended it. He said it was aged in clay pots which sounded weird but honestly it's really good — loads of fruit flavour and nothing tastes forced or fake. At £25 it's not an everyday bottle but I'd definitely buy it again for a nice meal.

Idris Ibrahim VIPsAllowed - Nice but not sure it's worth £25
6/10

It's a decent wine, don't get me wrong. Smooth, well made, interesting flavours. But for nearly £25 I expected to be a bit more blown away? I've had Portuguese reds at half the price that I enjoyed just as much. Would probably try other things from this producer at a lower price point though.
