Murdoch Hill Chardonnay 2018
White 12% ABV ABV Murdoch HillReally nice summer white
Picked this up after the guy at my local wine shop recommended it. Really lovely — got that pear and citrus thing going on and it's not heavy at all despite being a chardonnay. Went through the bottle way too fast with some grilled fish on a Friday night. At £28 it's not cheap but I'd buy it again for sure.
Expected more for the price
Bought this for a dinner party based on the label and the fact I like Adelaide Hills wines. It's fine — clean, light, lemony — but a bit understated for £28. My mate brought a £15 white burgundy that honestly stole the show. Not bad, just not where I'd spend my money again.
Low alcohol chardonnay done right
I've been trying to drink lower alcohol wines lately and this one at 12% is a winner. None of that flabby overripe stuff — it's actually got proper structure and a lovely stone fruit flavour. The finish goes on for ages too. Had it with a roast chicken and it was perfect.
Solid but not mind-blowing
Decent chardonnay. I liked the nutty thing in the background and it's got a nice crisp finish that keeps you sipping. Wouldn't say it knocked my socks off for nearly thirty quid though — I've had Australian chardonnays at half the price that come close.
