Mumm RSRV Cuvee Lalou 2013 Champagne
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV MummBest champagne I've ever had
Had this at a friend's dinner party and immediately went and tracked down a bottle for myself. The finish just goes on and on, it's mad. Everything about it feels perfectly balanced and the flavour keeps changing as you drink it. I don't give 10s lightly but this earned it.
Worth every penny for a special night
Bought this for our anniversary dinner and wow. The bubbles are so fine and the whole thing just feels luxurious without being stuffy. There's this lovely richness to it that kept me going back for another sip. At £140 it's not an everyday thing but for a celebration it's absolutely spot on.
Good but not sure it's £140 good
Saw this on a restaurant wine list and figured I'd try it since I'd never heard of the Cuvée Lalou before. It's definitely quality champagne — clean, well-made, nice long finish. But at this price point I'd probably reach for a grower champagne instead. Still enjoyed it with our seafood starter though.
Mumm knocked it out the park
I always thought Mumm was decent but nothing special — their Cordon Rouge is fine for toasts and that's about it. This is a completely different level. Really layered and complex, with bright acidity that keeps it fresh. Opened it with some friends on New Year's and we were all genuinely impressed.
Really impressive but pricey
My wife got me this for my birthday after the guy at our local wine shop recommended it. It's seriously good — proper depth to it, not like those champagnes that just taste like fizzy nothing. Bit steep at £140 though, I've had bottles at half the price that came close.
