Montagny 1er Cru Grappe d'Or Feuillat-Juillot 2023
Red 14% ABV ABV Feuillat-JuillotGood Friday night wine
Picked this up after seeing Feuillat-Juillot mentioned on a wine forum. Ripe fruit, nice structure, and a finish that keeps you coming back for another sip. At 14% it's got some weight to it so maybe not a midweek sipper but great for the weekend. Fair value for a 1er Cru.
Solid Burgundy, bit steep though
Nice wine, well made, no complaints on the taste — good depth and the finish hangs around nicely. But £33 is a lot for a Montagny when you can get decent Côte Chalonnaise for less. I'd grab it on offer but probably wouldn't pay full whack again.
Really impressed with this one
Bought this for a dinner party and it went down a storm. Lovely stone fruit on the nose and it's got this minerally thing going on that I really liked. Quite full bodied at 14% but doesn't feel boozy at all. Would definitely buy again.
Birthday treat that delivered
Got this as a birthday present to myself and really glad I did. There's proper complexity in the glass — not trying too hard, just genuinely interesting to drink. The acidity keeps everything balanced and it paired brilliantly with a roast chicken. Felt like a treat without being pretentious.
Decent but not blowing my mind
The wine shop guy recommended this and it's fine, perfectly drinkable. Clean finish, fruity nose, all that. Just expected a bit more wow factor for a premier cru at this price point. My partner liked it more than I did to be fair.
