Mauricio Lorca Inspirado Blend 2020
Red 14% ABV ABV LorcaPerfect dinner party wine
Opened this at a dinner party with lamb and it went down brilliantly. Really expressive on the nose straight away, no faffing about waiting for it to open up. At 14% it's got some punch but doesn't feel boozy. Everyone asked what it was.
Kept going back to the glass
Not usually one for blends but this Lorca caught my eye online. There's something about it that just keeps pulling you back in — the finish is quiet but it sticks around, and each sip I noticed something slightly different. Clean and confident without being showy. Really enjoyed it with a slow-cooked beef stew on a Sunday.
Birthday treat that delivered
Got this as a birthday present from my brother-in-law and honestly wasn't expecting much from a wine I'd never heard of. Really glad I was wrong — it's got layers that keep revealing themselves the more you drink. Structured but not heavy, and the finish just lingers nicely. At nearly seventy quid I wouldn't buy it every week but for a special occasion it's proper.
Good but steep price tag
Wine shop guy recommended this when I said I wanted something interesting from Argentina. It's a solid red — well balanced, good depth, nothing fighting against anything else. But £69 is a lot and I've had Argentine blends at half the price that gave me a similar experience. Would drink again if someone else was buying.
