Mauricio Lorca Camino Empedrado Rosado de Merenzao 2022
Rosé 12% ABV ABV LorcaPerfect summer evening wine
Had this on a warm evening with some grilled salmon and it was lovely. Not your typical light and forgettable pink — it's got backbone. The acidity cuts through food really well. Would definitely pick up another bottle.
Really interesting find
The guy at my local wine shop recommended this when I said I wanted a rosé that wasn't boring. He was right. There's a proper structure to it and the finish sticks around in a good way. Merenzao is apparently a rare grape which is cool.
Great with food, great without
We had this with a big mezze spread and it worked brilliantly but I also enjoyed a glass on its own the next day. There's a confidence to it if that makes sense? Like it was made to actually be a proper wine not just something to drink by the pool. Argentine rosé is definitely on my radar now.
This rosé has actual substance
Bought this for a dinner party and it was the star of the night. Most rosés I've had are just light and fruity but this one has real depth to it — like there's something going on beyond just pink wine. At £35 it's not cheap but honestly everyone asked me where I got it.
Decent but not mind-blowing
Picked this up after seeing it on a restaurant menu and enjoying it. It's well made and the aromatics are really expressive. Just not sure it quite justifies the price tag for me personally. I'd rate it a solid wine but maybe better as a treat than an everyday buy.
Changed my mind about rosé
I've always been a red wine person and thought rosé was a bit pointless tbh. A friend brought this Lorca to a BBQ and I was genuinely impressed. Complex and interesting with a clean finish. This is a serious wine that just happens to be pink.
Good but pricy for a rosé
It's a nice wine, don't get me wrong. Smells gorgeous straight out of the bottle and the balance is spot on. But £35.50 for a rosé is a lot and I'm not sure I'd buy it again when there are solid options for half that.
Birthday treat that delivered
Got this as a birthday present for myself because I wanted to try something different. Really glad I did. It's got way more going on than most rosés — proper fruit and acidity balance and a finish that keeps you coming back for another sip. The 12% ABV keeps it easy drinking too.
