Mauricio Lorca Block 1 Cabernet Franc 2023
Red 14% ABV ABV LorcaGood but a bit pricey for what it is
Bought this for a dinner party and it went down fine with the lamb. It's a decent red, clean finish and everything, but at nearly £21 I think you can find similar quality for less. Wouldn't rush to buy it again.
Solid Cab Franc
I've been getting into Cabernet Franc lately and this Argentine one is a good example of why. Nice structure, not too fruity, just well balanced. The 14% doesn't hit you over the head either which I appreciated.
Nice with steak
Had this with a ribeye on Saturday and it was a great match. It's got enough weight to stand up to red meat but there's an acidity that keeps it fresh. Would buy again for a BBQ or something.
Pleasant surprise
Not a grape I usually go for but the guy in the wine shop talked me into it. It's quite savoury and structured rather than big and jammy which I normally drink, so it took me a glass to get into it. By the second glass I was a fan though. Interesting stuff.
Birthday bottle that delivered
My wife got me this for my birthday after seeing it recommended somewhere online. Absolutely loved it — smells amazing straight out of the bottle and the taste has loads going on without being complicated if that makes sense. One of the better reds I've had this year.
Really impressed with this one
Picked this up from my local wine shop on their recommendation and glad I did. It's got this lovely depth to it without being too heavy, and the flavours keep developing as you drink. At £21 it's not an everyday bottle but it's a proper treat for a Friday night.
New favourite Argentine red
Saw this on a restaurant menu and ordered a glass, then went and tracked down a bottle the next week. The layers of flavour that come through as it opens up are brilliant. Seriously good wine and I don't say that lightly. Lorca clearly know what they're doing.
