Mauricio Lorca Ancestral Red Blend 2019
Red 14% ABV ABV LorcaOpened up beautifully
Give this one some air and it really rewards you. First couple of sips I thought it was nice but nothing crazy, then about 20 minutes in the aromas just opened right up and the whole thing came together. Rich but fresh at the same time which I love. Shared it with my partner over a cheese board and we were both very happy.
Lovely but steep price
Really nice Argentine red blend, proper generous fruit with enough freshness to keep it interesting. Went brilliantly with a slow-cooked lamb shoulder. Only gripe is the price — nearly £93 is a lot and I'm not sure it's twice as good as a £45 bottle.
Good not great for the money
Picked this up after seeing it rated highly somewhere. It's a solid red — nice fruit, clean finish, well made. But at this price point I've had Malbecs from Mendoza that impressed me more. Would try it again if someone else was buying though!
Birthday treat that delivered
Got this as a birthday present to myself and wow, no regrets. Really rich and fruity but not in a jammy way — more like everything is just in the right place. The finish keeps you coming back for more. At £93 it's not an everyday bottle but for special occasions it's a winner.
Best red I've had in ages
The guy at my local wine shop recommended this and I'm so glad he did. Poured it for a dinner party and everyone was asking about it. Loads of depth and complexity but still really drinkable. Honestly could not stop going back to my glass.
Incredible with steak
Had this at a restaurant and immediately tracked down a bottle online. At 14% it's got some heft to it but it doesn't feel heavy or boozy at all. The balance is spot on and the finish just lingers perfectly. Already ordered another one.
