Malagouzia Microcosmos Zafeirakis 2024
Red 14% ABV ABV ZafeirakisAbsolutely loved this
Saw this on a menu at a Greek restaurant and ordered a bottle for the table. Everyone loved it. Really expressive nose and it drinks so smoothly for 14% — you wouldn't guess it's that strong. Already tracked down a bottle to have at home.
Interesting one from Greece
Don't think I've had a Zafeirakis before. It's well made — you can tell someone's put thought into it. Good acidity, nice layers of fruit that sort of unfold as you drink. Went great with a pasta bake.
Solid but not cheap
Had this at a friend's dinner party and thought it was pretty good. Nice depth to it and the fruit flavours keep coming the more you sip. At £25 though I'd probably save it for a special occasion rather than a Tuesday night.
Good not great
It's a decent wine but I'm not sure it's worth twenty-five quid. There are Spanish reds I like more for less money. That said the finish is really clean and smooth, no harshness at all.
Birthday treat that delivered
My wife got me this for my birthday because I've been trying to explore Greek wines. Genuinely impressed — it smells amazing straight out of the bottle and there's a lot going on flavour-wise. Had it with lamb chops and it was perfect.
Pleasant surprise
I usually stick to French or Italian reds so this was a bit of an experiment for me. It's got a lovely clean finish and the flavours are more complex than I expected. Not sure I'd pay £25 regularly but glad I tried it.
Really nice Greek find
Picked this up after the guy at my local wine shop recommended it. Really aromatic when you pour it — you can smell it before you even get your nose near the glass. Lovely balance to it, not too heavy despite being 14%. Would definitely buy again.
