Mac Forbes Riesling RS98 2021
White 12% ABV ABV Mac ForbesInteresting Australian riesling
I'm mostly a red wine person but saw this on a menu and thought I'd try something different. Glad I did — it's dry and structured, not sweet like I expected from a riesling. Clean finish too. Wouldn't be my everyday wine but I appreciated it.
Expected more honestly
Had this at a friend's dinner party and it was fine but didn't blow me away. Clean and pleasant but for the price I've had more exciting rieslings. The finish was nice though, I'll give it that.
Solid riesling, not cheap though
Nice enough wine but £26 is a lot for a weeknight bottle. That said, it's well made — lean and dry with good balance. Had it with some grilled fish and it worked really well. Just wish it was a tenner cheaper.
Really lovely bottle
Picked this up after the guy at my local wine shop recommended it. Really clean and crisp, proper refreshing without being boring. The acidity is spot on and it kept getting better as I worked through the glass. Would definitely buy again.
Great find for a birthday dinner
Bought this for my wife's birthday dinner and we both loved it. Really aromatic when you pour it, and it's got this lovely layered thing going on where you taste something new each sip. Light and easy at 12% too so we got through the bottle without feeling rough the next day.
One of my favourite whites this year
Absolutely loved this. The nose is gorgeous, really expressive and clear. It's lean but not thin if that makes sense — there's proper depth there. Had it with a Thai green curry and it was perfect. Already ordered another bottle.
