Lustau VORS Palo Cortado 30 Year Old Sherry
Fortified 20% ABV ABV LustauChristmas present to myself
Treated myself to this after seeing it recommended online. Poured a small glass with some hard cheese and almonds and it was perfect. Everything just works together — fruit, acidity, depth. You can tell 30 years went into making this. A little goes a long way too so the bottle should last.
Blew my mind a bit
I'm not really a sherry person but my partner ordered this at a restaurant and let me try some. You can smell it before you even take a sip, really rich and layered. No harshness at all despite being 20%, just smooth and long. Tracked down a bottle online the next day.
Best sherry I've ever had
The guy at my local wine shop talked me into trying this and honestly I'm converted. I always thought sherry was something your nan drinks at Christmas but this is on another level. So much going on — every sip tastes slightly different. The concentration is insane, like decades of flavour packed into one glass.
Really impressive but not everyday
Tried this at a tasting event and had to grab a bottle. It's properly complex and the finish is incredibly clean for something at 20% ABV. My only gripe is the price — nearly £90 is a lot to drop on sherry, even one this good. Saving the rest of the bottle for when friends come over.
Good but I expected more
Had high hopes based on all the hype around Lustau's VORS range. It's definitely well made and the finish is lovely and clean, but at this price point I wanted to be completely blown away. It's good sherry, maybe great sherry, but I've had palo cortados at half the price that got me more excited.
Worth every penny
Bought this for my dad's 60th and we ended up sitting there for an hour just sipping it. The finish goes on forever — you put the glass down and five minutes later you're still tasting it. At £87 it's not cheap but for a 30 year old sherry it's actually reasonable. Would absolutely buy again for a special occasion.
