Solid sherry for after dinner

Got this as part of a fortified wine kick I've been on lately. It's got a lot going on — toffee, dried fruit, layers of stuff I can't fully identify but it all tastes good together. Not cheap at £19.75 for only 500ml but the 20% ABV means you're sipping it slowly anyway. Good with a bit of dark chocolate.

Way better than I expected

I always thought sherry was what my nan drank at Christmas but this completely changed my mind. Poured it and straight away you get this amazing dried fruit and toffee smell. It's sweet but clean if that makes sense — doesn't coat your mouth or anything. Sat with a glass after dinner and genuinely didn't want it to end.

Decent sherry, slightly pricey

Saw this recommended somewhere online and grabbed a bottle. It's good — complex, interesting, lots of dried fruit and caramel going on. Finish hangs around nicely too. My only gripe is nearly £20 for a half litre feels a touch steep when you can get a full bottle of port for similar money. That said I'd buy it again on offer.

Nice but a bit much for me

My partner bought this for a dinner party and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Personally I found it a bit sweet for my taste, though I can see the quality is there. The toffee and fruit cake sort of flavours are strong. Would probably work better as a dessert wine situation rather than something I'd just pour myself on a Tuesday.

Christmas in a glass

Picked this up because the wine shop guy said it was brilliant with cheese and I wasn't disappointed. Smells like actual Christmas cake which sounds weird but trust me it works. Really smooth and sweet but not in a sickly way — the acidity keeps it in check. At under £20 for a half bottle I'll definitely be getting another for the holidays.
