Louis Roederer Brut Nature 2015 / Philippe Starck
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Louis RoedererBirthday present to myself
Treated myself to this for my 40th and sat on the sofa savouring it for about two hours. It genuinely changes as it opens up — started quite tight and focused then these deeper layers came out. The finish just lingers and lingers. Felt properly special.
Solid champagne, interesting concept
Picked this up because I liked the idea of no dosage — what you taste is what the grapes actually gave you. It's direct and honest, nice mineral thread running through it. At 12.5% it's not too boozy either. Would I buy it again? Probably for Christmas or something like that, yeah.
Zero dosage done right
I've been getting into brut nature champagnes lately and this is the best one I've tried. Some zero dosage fizz can be a bit aggressive but this is beautifully balanced — proper fruit, proper acidity, nothing out of place. The aromatics are really clean and precise too. Not cheap at nearly £100 but Roederer know what they're doing.
Surprised how much I liked this
Not gonna lie, I usually prefer champagne with a bit more sweetness, so I was nervous about a zero dosage. But this totally won me over. It's got real fruit to it and doesn't taste bone dry like I expected. Had it with some oysters and seared scallops and it was banging.
Philippe Starck collab is cool
Saw this on a menu at a nice restaurant and the Starck connection caught my eye. Really elegant champagne — the bubbles are fine and it's got proper depth to it, not just fizzy wine. I'd say it's more of a food champagne than a party popper though, so bear that in mind.
Really good but bit steep
The wine shop guy recommended this and it IS excellent — complex, layered, lovely long finish. But I keep coming back to the price. For a hundred quid I'd probably just get two bottles of something else that's 90% as good. One for special occasions maybe.
Best champagne I've had full stop
My mate who's properly into wine brought this to a dinner party and I was blown away. It just keeps changing in the glass — every sip is slightly different. The finish goes on forever with this lovely chalky mineral quality. I've never given a 10 before but this deserves it.
Worth every penny for a special night
Bought this for our anniversary dinner and it was stunning. No added sugar at all but it doesn't taste harsh or stripped back — just really pure and clean with this mineral thing going on that kept me going back for more. At a hundred quid it's not an everyday buy but for a celebration it's absolutely perfect.
