Lindisfarne Damson Wine
Red 14% ABV ABV LindisfarneGood with cheese
Bought a couple of bottles on holiday in Northumberland. It's got a nice tartness to it that stops it being too jammy, and the finish is surprisingly clean. Had it with a strong cheddar and it worked really well. Wouldn't pay much more than the £9.50 though.
Surprisingly drinkable
I'm not usually a fruit wine person but a mate recommended this and I'm glad I tried it. You get proper damson flavour, almost like sloe berries, and it's got more body than I expected at 14%. Went down a treat after a roast dinner.
Not really my thing
My aunt brought this round for Sunday lunch. It's fine but it's very fruity and sweet for my taste — I usually go for a dry red. I could taste the damson and plum which was nice enough, just not what I'd reach for. Might work better as a dessert wine.
Decent enough for the price
Had this at a friend's dinner party and it was alright. Quite jammy and fruity with a bit of a dry finish which I liked. Nothing amazing but for under a tenner you can't really complain. Would maybe grab a bottle for Christmas.
Proper nice fruit wine
Picked this up at Lindisfarne on a day trip to Holy Island and honestly expected it to be a tourist trap bottle. Really pleasantly surprised — loads of damson flavour without being sickly sweet. At £9.50 it's a decent souvenir that you'll actually enjoy drinking.
