Les Cretes Petite Arvine 2024: Bright and Beautifully Balanced
White 13.5% ABV ABV Les CretesInteresting grape variety
I've been trying to branch out from Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio so gave this a go. Petite Arvine is from the Italian Alps apparently? Really liked the stone fruit flavours and it's beautifully balanced. Would pair well with a creamy pasta or just on its own in the garden.
Birthday wine hit
Got this for my birthday meal and it was brilliant with the fish we had. There's a honey sweetness to it but it stays really fresh and light, not cloying at all. That briny, salty ending is so unusual — everyone at the table commented on it. Proper crowd pleaser.
Nice but not cheap
Had this at a friend's dinner party and thought it was really good, so tracked a bottle down myself. The pear and apple on the nose are spot on, and it's properly refreshing. At £26.50 though, it's more of an occasional treat than a regular buy for me.
Really lovely white
Picked this up after the guy in my local wine shop recommended it. Never heard of Petite Arvine before but I'm a convert — it's got this gorgeous peachy thing going on with a salty finish that's unlike anything I've had. Would absolutely buy again.
Good not great
It's a decent white wine. I liked the citrus and peach flavours and it's crisp enough, but for nearly £27 I expected a bit more wow factor. The salty finish is interesting I guess — my partner loved it more than I did.
