Leclapart Cuvee l'Artiste 2020 Blanc de Blancs
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV LeclapartA real discovery
I'd never tried anything from this producer before and I'm genuinely impressed. Rich golden colour, aromas of apricot and toasted almond, and a palate with wonderful weight and texture. There's a savoury note underneath — almost umami — that gives it real food-pairing versatility. Will definitely be buying more.
Beautifully aromatic and fresh
Gorgeous nose of white peach, honeysuckle, and a hint of wet stone minerality. On the palate it's crisp and precise with lovely acidity that keeps everything lively. The finish has a pleasant bitter almond note that makes you reach for another sip. Perfect aperitif wine or paired with lighter seafood dishes.
Really good but that price though
Tried this at a restaurant and liked it enough to track down a bottle. It's a beautiful blanc de blancs with great structure and a finish that lingers nicely. But £150 is a lot of money and I'm not sure it's twice as good as a £75 champagne. Would I buy it again for a special dinner? Probably yes.
Stunning complexity from start to finish
From the moment you pull the cork, this wine announces itself. Intense aromas of blackcurrant, cedar, and violet give way to a palate that's both powerful and remarkably elegant. The mid-palate weight is extraordinary — concentrated without being heavy. The finish lingers for what feels like a full minute with waves of dark fruit and graphite. Absolutely world-class.
Nice but maybe overhyped?
Got this as a gift and it's definitely good champagne — crisp, well balanced, lovely long finish. But I kept waiting for the mind-blowing moment that never quite came. Maybe I'd appreciate it more if I knew more about grower champagnes. The 12.5% ABV keeps it light which I liked.
Best champagne I've had in years
My wife's colleague recommended Leclapart and wow. This is so precise and focused compared to the big house champagnes we usually drink. The acidity is bright without being sharp and there's real complexity going on. We had it with some oysters on our anniversary and it was perfect.
Birthday splurge that delivered
Bought this for my 40th and honestly it lived up to the price tag. The bubbles are super fine and there's this lovely depth to it that keeps you coming back for another sip. Clean finish that doesn't disappear straight away. At £150 it's not an everyday thing but for a special occasion? Absolutely worth it.
