Laurent-Perrier Alexandra Rose 2012 Champagne / Gift Box
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Laurent-PerrierBeautiful but hard to justify the price
Tried this at a restaurant and it was genuinely lovely — precise, elegant, really well balanced acidity with ripe fruit. But nearly £400 a bottle? I've had champagnes at half the price that got me almost as excited. It's a 9 or 10 quality wine with a price tag that knocks a point off for me.
Worth every penny for a special night
Bought this for our 10th wedding anniversary and wow, it did not disappoint. The rosé colour is gorgeous and it tastes incredibly complex — layers of fruit that kept revealing themselves as we worked through the bottle. At £382 it's obviously not an everyday drink but for a milestone celebration it felt absolutely right. The finish just goes on and on.
Opened this for New Year's and no regrets
The guy at our local wine shop recommended this when I said I wanted something really special. He wasn't wrong. It's so clean and confident, not showy at all but you can tell it's proper stuff. Shared it between four of us and everyone kept commenting on how good it was. The 2012 vintage clearly has something going on.
Best champagne I've ever had
My wife got this for my 50th birthday in the gift box and it's stunning. I'm not usually a rosé person but this is on another level — structured and serious but still so easy to drink. We had it with salmon and it was perfect. If you can afford it, just do it.
