Larmandier-Bernier Terre de Vertus Non Dose 2017
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Larmandier-BernierBest champagne I've had in ages
The guy at my local wine shop recommended this and I'm so glad he did. You can tell it's been aged for a while — there's this depth to it that cheaper champagnes just don't have. The finish goes on forever, I kept noticing new things with every sip. Already planning to grab another bottle.
Really good but nearly £100 is steep
Had this at a friend's dinner party and it was genuinely lovely — clean, precise, interesting flavours throughout. But when I looked up the price afterwards I was a bit taken aback. It's better than most champagnes I've tried, sure, but I'm not sure it's twice-the-price-of-a-good-one better. Would happily drink it again if someone else is buying though!
Classy stuff, lingering finish
Picked this up for my dad's birthday since he's into his grower champagnes. Larmandier-Bernier is one of the good ones apparently. We both agreed the finish is the standout thing — it just hangs around in the best way. Really well made. Dad said it was the highlight of his birthday so mission accomplished.
So different from normal champagne
I'm still pretty new to wine but even I could tell this was special. It's a "non dosé" which I had to google — basically means no added sugar. Sounds like it'd be too dry but it's actually really balanced and refreshing. The smell alone is gorgeous, kind of drew me in before I even tasted it. Served it with some nibbles before Sunday roast and it was perfect.
Worth every penny for a special night
Bought this for our anniversary dinner and wow. No sugar added apparently but it doesn't taste dry or harsh at all — really smooth with loads of flavour that kept changing as we drank it. The bubbles are super fine and elegant. At £95 it's not an everyday thing but for a celebration it's absolutely spot on.
