Laherte Freres Petit Meslier NV Champagne
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV LaherteReally impressive but hard to justify the price
Tried this at a wine bar after the sommelier recommended it. It's genuinely lovely — clean, complex, great acidity — but £120 is a lot when there are solid champagnes at half the price. That said, the depth here is on another level compared to most things I've had.
Petit Meslier is a revelation
I'd never even heard of Petit Meslier as a grape before picking this up at a local wine shop. It's so different from your typical champagne — really direct and focused, with a weight to it that surprised me. The finish goes on and on. Laherte clearly know what they're doing.
Lovely but maybe not £120 lovely
Got this as a birthday present and it was delicious, no question. Beautiful structure and the flavours kept unfolding the more I drank. But if I'm being honest I'm not sure I'd buy it myself at that price point — I'd probably grab two bottles of something else instead.
Changed how I think about champagne
Saw this on a restaurant wine list and the waiter talked me into it. So glad he did. I always thought champagne was just fizzy party wine but this has genuine depth and complexity — like each sip is slightly different from the last. The finish is clean and just keeps going. Genuinely special stuff.
Worth every penny for a special night
Bought this for our anniversary dinner and wow, it really delivered. Super clear and expressive on the nose, and the bubbles are so fine and elegant. Each sip just kept getting more interesting — layers and layers of flavour. At £120 it's not an everyday buy but for a celebration it's absolutely perfect.
Absolutely stunning with seafood
Had this with oysters and grilled prawns at a friend's place and it was unreal. The acidity cuts right through rich food and the fruit keeps everything balanced. Not heavy at all despite having some real body to it. Already planning to bring a bottle to our next get-together.
Best champagne I've ever had
My mate who's really into wine brought this to a dinner party and I'm still thinking about it weeks later. It's got this incredible balance where nothing overpowers anything else, and the finish just hangs around making you want more. I don't usually spend this much on a bottle but I've already ordered one for myself.
Good not great for the money
Nice champagne, well made, interesting aromatics. But I've had Billecart and Pol Roger at half the price that I enjoyed just as much. The complexity is there if you're paying attention but for a casual glass with dinner it felt like overkill. Decent though, just not a rebuy for me.
