Laherte Freres Nature de Craie NV Champagne
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV LaherteChanged my mind about champagne
I always thought champagne was a bit overrated but this one genuinely surprised me. There's a real depth to it that unfolds the longer you sit with a glass. The finish just goes on and on. Paired it with some takeaway sushi and it was brilliant together.
Proper special occasion stuff
Bought this for my wife's 40th after the guy at our local wine shop recommended it. Really glad I did — it's got this amazing chalky mineral thing going on that makes it taste so clean and fresh. The bubbles are super fine too, not like the big fizzy ones you get with cheaper stuff. Worth the £67 for a celebration but I wouldn't be buying it every week.
Lovely crisp champagne
Saw this on a restaurant wine list and looked it up afterwards to buy a bottle for home. Really bright and precise on the nose, you can kind of smell the chalkiness if that makes sense? It's restrained but in a good way — nothing showy, just quietly excellent. Treated myself for finishing my dissertation.
Nice but steep price tag
Had this at a friend's dinner party and it was definitely good champagne — really layered and interesting, kept noticing different things as I drank it. But at nearly 70 quid a bottle I'm not sure it's that much better than some £40 champagnes I've had. Would drink it again if someone else was buying though!
