Benjamin Ross VIPsAllowed - Birthday splurge that delivered
9/10

Bought this for my 40th and wow, it did not disappoint. Really expressive nose — stone fruit, something almost chalky underneath. It kept changing in the glass too, like every sip was slightly different. At £96 it's not an everyday thing but for a milestone birthday? Absolutely worth it.

Not gonna lie, first few sips I wasn't sure what the fuss was about. But I left it in the glass for a bit and it completely opened up — way more depth than I expected. Clean finish, no harshness at all. I think I'm more used to sweeter champagnes so the extra brut style took some adjusting. Glad I stuck with it.

Opened this for a dinner party and it was the talking point of the night. Super dry which I love (extra brut apparently means very low sugar), and it just kept evolving as we drank it. Even my mate who normally only drinks beer was impressed. The mineral thing going on underneath the fruit is really cool.

The wine shop guy talked me into this over a Moët and it is better, definitely more interesting — nice fruit, good acidity, proper dry style. But at £96 vs like £35 for Moët I'm not sure it's three times better? Maybe I just need to develop my palate more. Would try again if someone poured me a glass but probably wouldn't rebuy.

Tried this at a wine bar and it's genuinely good champagne — structured, complex, lovely stone fruit notes. But nearly a hundred quid? I kept thinking I could get two really solid bottles of crémant for that. If someone else is buying though, say yes immediately.

Luciano Bianchi VIPsAllowed - Best champagne I've had in years

My wife's colleague recommended Laherte and I finally tracked down a bottle of the 2018 Les Empreintes. This is serious stuff — proper weight to it, not one of those thin fizzy champagnes. The acidity keeps everything fresh and the finish just goes on and on. Already ordered another one.
