Laculle Freres Les Deux Vallees NV Champagne
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Laculle FreresSolid pick from the wine shop
The guy at my local recommended this when I said I wanted something a bit special but not crazy expensive. Really clean and bright, nice bubbles, and it's got this lovely acidity that keeps you coming back for more. Would definitely buy again for a dinner party.
Birthday treat that delivered
Bought this for my wife's 40th and we were both really impressed. Proper crisp and fresh with loads going on — every sip seemed to taste a bit different as it opened up. At £53 it's not cheap but for a birthday Champagne it felt worth every penny.
Genuinely surprised me
I'm not usually a Champagne person — I find a lot of them a bit samey. But this Laculle Freres has real character to it. There's a proper layered quality where you keep noticing new things. The finish is really smooth too, no harsh edges at all.
Decent enough fizz
Saw this on a restaurant wine list and ordered a glass. It's nice — good fruit, good acidity, does the job. I probably wouldn't seek it out specifically at full retail price but I wouldn't turn it down either. Fine for celebrations.
Perfect for our anniversary dinner
We had this with some seafood starters and it was brilliant. Really precise flavours, nothing over the top, just clean and elegant. The kind of Champagne where you finish the bottle and wish you'd bought two.
Good but maybe not £53 good
Look, it's a nice Champagne. Crisp, well balanced, pleasant finish. But at over fifty quid I've had bottles at £35-40 that I've enjoyed just as much. If it was a tenner cheaper I'd rate it higher.
New favourite for hosting
Had friends over for nibbles and opened this. Everyone commented on how good it was, even the ones who normally just drink prosecco. It's got a bit of complexity that makes it interesting but it's still really easy to drink. The 12.5% ABV is sensible too — nobody got silly before dinner was even ready.
