La Cayetana Syrah 2021
Red 14% ABV ABV La CayetanaDecent but a bit much for me
Found this a bit heavy for my taste — 14% and you can kind of tell. The dark fruit flavours are nice and there's some interesting herby stuff going on, but I think I prefer something a bit lighter. Not bad though, just not my style.
New favourite for cold evenings
I'm still learning about wine but I know what I like, and I really like this. It's rich and warming without being too boozy. Got some sort of graphite or mineral thing going on that makes it interesting. Had it with a slow-cooked beef stew and it was perfect.
Absolute winner at our dinner party
Brought two bottles to a dinner party and both were gone before dessert. Everyone kept asking what it was. The pepper and dark fruit combo is just spot on, and it went brilliantly with the lamb we had. Best Syrah I've had at this price.
Birthday treat that delivered
My partner got me this for my birthday and wow, really enjoyed it. Plum and blackberry on the nose, then this lovely peppery warmth that lingers. Felt like a proper treat without being stuffy or pretentious.
Nice enough, nothing mind-blowing
Saw this on a menu at a restaurant and ordered a bottle to try at home later. It's a good honest red — blackberry, plum, touch of pepper. Does what a Syrah should do. I just feel like there are similar wines out there for a fiver less.
Really solid Syrah
Picked this up after the guy at my local wine shop recommended it. Loads of blackberry and dark fruit, and I love that peppery kick it has. At £23 it's not an everyday bottle but it's definitely one I'd buy again for a nice weekend meal.
Solid midweek upgrade
Bit pricey for what it is if I'm honest — nearly £23 is creeping into special occasion territory for me. That said, it's well made. Dark fruit, a bit of spice, and it goes down smooth. Would grab it on offer.
Good with steak
Had this with a ribeye and it was a great match. Big and fruity but not over the top. The tannins are smooth enough that my wife liked it too and she usually goes for lighter reds.
