Krug Grande Cuvee Champagne
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV KrugThis is the one
The wine shop guy recommended this when I said I wanted something special and he wasn't wrong. From the first sip you can tell it's on another level — the acidity and fruit are perfectly balanced and it just lingers beautifully. Bought a second bottle before I'd even finished the first.
Worth every single penny
Got this for our anniversary and honestly it ruined all other champagne for me. The balance is just insane — every sip has something new going on, layers of flavour that keep unfolding. At £226 it's not an everyday thing but for a special occasion? Absolutely worth it.
Amazing but my wallet hurts
Birthday present from my partner and wow, it's genuinely brilliant champagne. Beautiful structure and the complexity is real — not just marketing nonsense. But I'd be lying if I said I could tell you it's twice as good as a £100 bottle. Still, very glad I got to try it.
Dinner party showstopper
Brought this to a friend's dinner party and it was the star of the evening. Crystal clear flavours, nothing muddled or hidden. Everyone kept going back for more. At 12.5% it's dangerously easy to drink for something this good.
Great champagne, silly price
Had this at a restaurant and yeah it's lovely. Clean finish, loads of depth, properly well made. But £226 a bottle? I've had champagnes at half the price that made me just as happy. It's excellent but I'm not sure the premium is justified for most people.
Finally tried the hype
Kept seeing Krug mentioned everywhere so I splashed out. The nose hits you straight away, really confident and expressive without being over the top. Finish goes on forever in the best way. I get why people obsess over this stuff now.
Now I'm a champagne person I guess
I'm more of a red wine drinker usually but someone opened this at New Year's and it completely changed my mind about champagne. There's genuine complexity here, not just bubbles. Each sip was slightly different which I wasn't expecting. Really impressive stuff.
Lived up to the reputation
Saw this on a menu at a fancy place and decided to just go for it. So glad I did. It's bold and expressive right from the first sniff but not showy about it. The finish fades out so gently, like it doesn't want to leave. Paired it with some seafood starters and it was perfect.
