Kopke 40 Year Old Tawny Port
Fortified 20% ABV ABV KopkeLovely but bit pricey for what it is
Don't get me wrong this is a very good port. Nice dried fruit character, long finish, all that. But I've had 20 and 30 year tawnies that got me 80% of the way there for a lot less money. If someone else is buying then absolutely, but I probably wouldn't repurchase at this price point myself.
Christmas day showstopper
Brought this out after Christmas dinner instead of the usual cheap ruby port and everyone went quiet for a second. It's just so concentrated and rich without being heavy. My father-in-law who "doesn't like port" had three glasses. Says it all really.
Shared with friends and they loved it
Picked this up at duty free and saved it for a dinner party. Poured it with some stilton and dark chocolate after the meal and it was a massive hit. Really clean finish that makes you want to keep going back. Only complaint is the bottle didn't last long enough between four of us.
Really impressive but save it for something special
The wine shop guy recommended this when I said I wanted something memorable for our anniversary. It's properly complex — all dried fruits and spice on the nose, and it drinks beautifully. Only reason I'm not giving it higher is that £98 is a lot for port when there are solid options at half the price.
Worth every single penny
Got this as a 40th birthday present for my husband and we cracked it open after dinner. Absolutely incredible — layers of dried fruit and warm spice that just kept going and going. We sat there for an hour just sipping and talking. At nearly £100 it's not cheap but for a special occasion it's genuinely worth it.
I finally understand what the fuss is about
I'm relatively new to port and usually just grab whatever's on offer. Saw this on a restaurant menu and thought why not treat myself. Oh my god. The depth of flavour is unreal — fruits, spices, everything just perfectly balanced. I now understand why people spend proper money on this stuff.
The smoothest port I've ever had
Tried this at a wine bar and immediately ordered a bottle online. For 20% ABV you'd expect some burn but there's literally none — it's so smooth and balanced. The finish lasts forever in the best way. This is my new benchmark for tawny port.
