Kopke 30 Year Old White Port
Fortified 20% ABV ABV KopkeGood but hard to justify the price
Look, it's a lovely wine. Loads of complexity and the finish is super clean. But nearly £60 for a bottle of port is a big ask when there are solid 10-year tawnies for half that. I'd buy it again for a special occasion but not as a regular thing.
Perfect with cheese
Picked this up on a whim for a cheese night and it was an incredible match with stilton. Rich and concentrated with loads going on but nothing harsh or hot despite being 20%. The kind of bottle where you keep going back for just one more small glass.
Nice but I expected more wow factor
Tried this at a restaurant and liked it enough to buy a bottle. It's definitely good — smooth, well-balanced, nice long finish. But for 30 years old I was expecting to be blown away and it was more like... quietly impressive? Still rating it well because the quality is clearly there.
Birthday treat that delivered
Got this for my 30th birthday (30 years old, get it?) and wow. So rich and complex, every sip tastes a bit different. The acidity keeps it fresh even though it's this big, intense fortified wine. Worth every penny of the £58.
Finally tried a proper aged white port
The guy at my local wine shop has been pushing me to try aged white port for months and I finally caved. Really glad I did — it's got this incredible depth that just keeps going. You can tell the 30 years of ageing have done something special. Not cheap but it lasts ages since you sip it slowly.
Absolute stunner after dinner
Brought this out after a dinner party and it basically stole the show. Everyone kept asking what it was. You don't even notice the 20% alcohol, it's so smooth. The way it changes in the glass is genuinely fascinating — leave it 10 minutes and it's like a different drink.
Best port I've ever had
I'm not really a port expert but I know what I like and this is unreal. So expressive on the nose — I kept sniffing it before drinking which probably looked ridiculous. The finish is really clean and elegant and it just makes you want another sip. Bought it as a gift for my father-in-law and ended up ordering one for myself.
Great alternative to tawny
I usually go for tawny port but tried this white on a recommendation. Really impressed — it's got proper weight and concentration but stays refreshing somehow. The acidity really balances everything out. Poured it for my dad who's a port drinker and he loved it too.
