Kopke 1967 Colheita Port
Fortified 20% ABV ABV KopkeLike drinking history
1967! This port has been aging longer than I've been alive. Picked it up as a birthday treat for myself and opened it with some stilton after dinner. Rich and layered without being heavy at all. The finish lingers for ages in the best way possible.
Worth every penny for a special night
Bought this for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary dinner and it was the highlight of the evening. Incredibly smooth for something at 20% — you genuinely can't feel the alcohol at all. The finish just goes on and on. At £186 it's not cheap but for a wine from 1967 that tastes this good, I think it's actually fair.
Proper treat from Kopke
I'm fairly new to port but I know Kopke is one of the oldest producers and this didn't disappoint. Really aromatic, loads going on, and it finishes so cleanly. Dangerously easy to drink for 20%. Shared it with my partner after a nice meal and we were both blown away.
Best port I've ever had, no contest
The guy at my local wine shop talked me into this and I'm so glad he did. Every time you go back to the glass you pick up something different on the nose. It's sweet but not in a syrupy way — there's a proper balance to it. Absolutely stunning stuff.
Really impressive but hard to justify the price
Got to try this at a friend's birthday and yeah, it's lovely. Super complex, long finish, perfectly balanced. But would I spend £186 on a bottle myself? Probably not when there are solid colheitas for half the price. Still, glad I got to experience it.
Lovely port, maybe slightly overhyped
Tried this at a tasting event and it's genuinely good — smooth, complex, no burn despite 20% ABV. But I've had younger Kopke colheitas that come pretty close for a lot less money. Great port, just not sure it's twice-the-price great.
Opened this for Christmas and everyone went quiet
Not exaggerating — poured this after Christmas dinner and the table literally went silent for a second. So smooth and layered. My dad who normally drinks beer said it was the best thing he'd ever tasted. The nose alone is worth sitting with for ten minutes. Special bottle.
